Exploring South Africa. by Asher

It’s Asher again in Cape Town, South Africa. Anyways, I’m here to tell you about my best day here in Cape Town so far. On Monday, July 9th, my family and I went to a really cool penguin sanctuary. Yes, a penguin sanctuary in South Africa!🐧 The penguins there are actually native to South Africa, and are an endangered species after they were frequently hunted in the 20th century. They sometimes make loud honking noises for some reason that makes them sound really funny.πŸ“£The sanctuary itself is located next to the water where there is a beach. However, the beach is strictly reserved…for the penguins!πŸ–πŸ§But there was a really special animal while we were at the sanctuary. While we were walking, a curious furry brown creature who I call Marvin the marmot(I didn’t know he wasn’t a marmot), stumbled upon us. He was very furry and looked sort of like our dog, Trixie. I’ve posted a video of Marvin below. After the sanctuary, we hiked in the African cape. It was very long but ultimately worth it as we got a spectacular view. There was even another furry creature(possibly a lemming) that looked like Marvin from the sanctuary! Our reward for the long hike was a trip to the underpopulated beach at the bottom of the site that was very cool. We roled in the sand and we enjoyed the wonderful time we had had that day.

Marvin the marmot(not actually a marmot, but a rock hyrax. But he looks like a marmot)πŸ——>
